Talent is evenly distributed, but opportunity isn't.
At Ubuntu, we give a unique opportunity to boys and girls that are talented but have no opportunity to be developed as a whole person. It just doesn’t exist outside of Ubuntu Football.
We help them unleash their full football and academic potential and in doing so, have created platforms for them to enter into that would give them influence. And through that process, they discover the purpose for their life.
Professional football is naturally the dream for most players in football academies, however the percentage in any academy who go on to have sustained careers in football is usually well below 1%. While our track record shows that the chances of 'making it' at as a Pro Footballer having graduated from Ubuntu is much higher than this 1%, there are no guarantees. The only certainty is that 100% will need another career (passion) after they stop playing or pursuing professional football. Therefore, we believe it is crucial that we develop the players as people and not just as footballers.
As a result, the Ubuntu Football Academy offers holistic mentorship to exceptional young players over a sustained period of six years (12-18 years old) focusing on their football, education and formation.
Each day at the academy we provide education through our own Academy School, elite football training, ongoing mentorship through our various character formation programs, and an Academy Residence for 30 of our boys to call home. The boys in our residence benefit from a safe and stable environment: they are cared for by our loving House Parents and staff, are provided with nutritious meals by our Cooking Manager, and build deep relationships with their mentors and peers.
All of our programs help us in our goal of seeking to raise a generation of young men and women who impact our nation. We want to see young men and women who have dreams of not just football, but also for careers and passions when they stop playing or pursuing professional football.
